FormatNeeds feeder
Setup
Feeder at the opposite net/midcourt with shuttles. Hitter at base.
Step by step
- Feeder hits medium-high lifts to the midcourt/rear forehand.
- Hitter moves back, smashes straight, then moves forward to shadow a net kill.
- Feeder waits for recovery before the next feed.
- Rest fully between sets.
Success criteria
6 of 8 steep smashes landing in the front half of the opponent's court.
Common mistakes
- Contact behind the head
- Too many shuttles without rest (technique degrades)
Easier version
Throw-to-smash progression from a hand feed, half power, big target.
Advanced version
Alternate straight/cross/body; add the jump smash (low volume).
Progression
Accuracy first, then speed; add a third target.
Safety
- Stop if you feel sharp pain, dizziness, chest pain or unusual breathlessness.
