About ShuttleScience

For badminton enthusiasts, by a badminton lover. ShuttleScience is a free badminton training app and guide: technique, footwork, drills, workouts, rules, gear advice and court-side tools for every level, from first rally to professional.

Why ShuttleScience exists

Good badminton advice is scattered across videos, forums and coaching notes. ShuttleScience brings it together in one place, explained clearly and free for everyone: how to hold the racket, play every shot, move around the court, train your body, understand the rules, choose your gear and run a match or a tournament.

It is built for players of every level: complete beginners, parents and kids, club players, competitive juniors and seniors, and coaches looking for drills and session ideas.

What you'll find here

  • The Badminton Handbook: court, rules and scoring, equipment, the science of the shuttle, grips, every shot, technique, tactics, training and safety.
  • An exercise, shot, footwork and drill library with step-by-step instructions, coaching cues, common mistakes and videos.
  • Ready-made workouts for every focus area at beginner, intermediate, advanced and professional level, plus a workout builder and guided sessions.
  • Coaching articles on tactics, technique, mental skills, training and match preparation.
  • Gear guides for rackets, shuttles, strings, grips, shoes, bags, clothing and training tools.
  • Court-side tools: a match scorekeeper and a tournament manager.

How the content is made

Rules and equipment specifications follow the BWF Laws of Badminton. Technique, training and safety guidance is based on published coaching and sport-science material, listed in the handbook's sources chapter. Videos are embedded from YouTube creators and credited on each page, with backups in case a video is removed.

ShuttleScience gives general training information, not medical advice. If you have pain, an injury or a health condition, check with a qualified professional before training.

How gear is picked

Gear recommendations are chosen for fit to a player's level, budget and playing style, using each product's published specifications. Some links are affiliate links: ShuttleScience may earn a small commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. Brands cannot pay for a place in the recommendations.

Free, private, no sign-up

Everything is free to use. There are no accounts yet: your profile, workouts and progress are stored in your own browser, not on a ShuttleScience server. See the privacy notice for details.

Who's behind it

ShuttleScience is an independent project, made by a badminton lover for badminton enthusiasts everywhere. It is not affiliated with the BWF, any national federation or any equipment brand.
