Setup

Anywhere, racket in hand. A mirror helps.

Step by step

  1. Hold a relaxed forehand grip; check the V on the top-left bevel.
  2. On "back!", rotate to the backhand thumb grip; on "front!", back to forehand; on "flat!", panhandle.
  3. Partner or app calls randomly; aim for a change in under a second with a relaxed hand.
  4. Finish with 10 fast forehand–backhand switches in front of the body.

Success criteria

10 correct changes in a row without looking at the hand.

Common mistakes

Easier version

Make it a game: "Simon says forehand!" with colour stickers on the bevels.

Advanced version

Combine with fast wall drives that alternate sides.

Progression

When automatic, practise the switches during wall rallies.
