Tactical use & trade-offs

Puts pressure on an opponent who is moving forward or late. If it is too low it can be intercepted and punished; it gives less recovery time than a high clear.

Technique

GripForehand grip: shake hands with the handle, the V between thumb and index finger on the top-left bevel, fingers relaxed and slightly spread.
PreparationTurn side-on early, racket arm cocked with the elbow at about shoulder height, non-racket arm pointing up toward the shuttle, weight on the back (right) foot.
Contact pointSlightly further in front than a defensive clear, at full reach.
Racket faceFlat, angled more forward than for a high clear (flatter trajectory).
SwingFast throwing swing with strong forearm pronation; the trajectory peaks just above the opponent's racket reach.
Body & footworkFull rotation and forward weight transfer, often with a scissor kick.
Follow-throughFollow through and move forward quickly; expect a weaker reply.

Practice

On your own: Shadow attacking clears with full rotation (3 × 10).

With a partner: Feeder lifts from the net; hitter alternates attacking clear and smash with the same preparation. Partner tries to intercept the clear.

Volume: 3 × 15 shuttles.
