Flat exchanges
Fast, flat drive and push exchanges in midcourt, typical of doubles, where the first player to lift usually loses the attack.

Tactical use & trade-offs
Win by keeping it flat and finding the body or gaps. The temptation is to hit harder, but a rising drive loses the exchange. Change pace (push vs drive) to break rhythm.
Technique
| Grip | Panhandle / flat-face grip: racket face square to the net, thumb and fingers relaxed. Useful at the net and in fast exchanges. Switch between forehand and backhand very quickly. |
|---|---|
| Preparation | Racket up in front of the chest, slightly forward of the body. |
| Contact point | Early, in front of the body. |
| Racket face | Flat or slightly down. |
| Swing | Very short taps and drives using fingers and forearm. |
| Body & footwork | Square stance, small adjustments. |
| Follow-through | Racket back in front immediately. |
