Fun Badminton Games for Kids at Home
Eight simple games that build racket skills and footwork, in a garden, hall or living room.

You do not need a court to build skills. These games work in a garden, a hall or a cleared room with soft shuttles.
- Keep-it-up: tap the shuttle up on the racket. Count the record, then try backhand taps or alternating sides.
- Egg-and-spoon race: balance a shuttle on the racket strings and walk (then jog) to a finish line.
- Target toss: throw shuttles overarm into a bucket or hoop at different distances, for points.
- Serve to the towel: lay towels as targets and score points for landing on them.
- Shuttle relay: lunge to pick up shuttles from cones and bring them back. Race a parent!
- Colour calls: four coloured cones; call a colour and they run to touch it and come back to the middle.
- Catch me: drop a shuttle from shoulder height; can they catch it before it lands?
- Rally challenge: rally together over a rope or sofa line and count how many in a row you can make.
Tips
- Keep each game to 3–5 minutes and swap often.
- Celebrate personal bests.
- Clear the space of anything breakable, and use soft or nylon shuttles indoors.
Key takeaways
- Short, game-based practice builds real skills.
- Celebrate personal bests.
- Use soft shuttles and a cleared, safe space.
