Getting Better When You Are Busy
Limited time? Focus on what moves the needle most, and train smart around your playing days.

Most players have jobs, school or families. You can still improve steadily with a smart, small plan.
1. Pick one focus for a month
Choose your biggest weakness (for example the rear backhand, low serve consistency or footwork recovery) and practise it in every session for four weeks.
2. Use short home sessions
- 10 minutes of shadow footwork or split-step work.
- 15–20 minutes of strength twice a week (legs, calves, shoulder).
- 5 minutes of serving into a target at the end of club night.
3. Make club time count
Warm up properly, then play with a purpose: "this game I will serve low and attack the third shot".
4. Protect recovery
Sleep and rest days are part of training. Do not stack hard legs or intervals on top of a hard badminton evening.
Key takeaways
- One focus for a month beats ten scattered ones.
- Short home sessions add up: footwork, strength, serving.
- Play club games with a specific intention.
