Starting position
Sit somewhere quiet. A few slow breaths to settle.
How to do it
- Picture the court: the lights, the sound of shuttles, your racket in your hand.
- Rehearse three of your best shots in detail: the movement, the contact, the shuttle landing where you aimed.
- Picture a tricky moment (a lost point, a close score) and see yourself staying calm and using your routine.
- Finish by picturing walking on court confident and ready.
Technique cues
- Use all your senses: see, hear, feel
- Picture it going well, at real speed
Common mistakes
- Only picturing mistakes
- Making it too long or vague
Easier
Just one shot and one calm moment, for one minute.
Harder
Rehearse a full game plan against a specific opponent.
Safety
- Stop if you feel sharp pain, dizziness, chest pain or unusual breathlessness.
