Between-points reset routine
A short, repeatable routine between rallies helps you let go of the last point and focus on the next. Practising it off court makes it automatic in matches.

FormatSolo
Starting position
Stand at your service position with your racket.
How to do it
- Let go: turn away and adjust your strings or grip (2–3 seconds).
- Breathe: one slow breath out, longer than the breath in.
- Plan: say one simple intention quietly ("serve low, racket up").
- Ready: step into position, eyes on the target. That is one rep.
Technique cues
- Same order every time
- One plan, not five
Common mistakes
- Replaying the last mistake
- Making the routine too long (play must be continuous)
Easier
Use just two steps: breathe, then ready.
Harder
Practise it during pressure-point games at full match speed.
Safety
- Stop if you feel sharp pain, dizziness, chest pain or unusual breathlessness.
