Practise the Situations You Lose
Turn your match losses into a practice list, then rebuild those exact situations in training.

The fastest way to improve is to practise the exact situations that cost you points.
Step 1: collect evidence
After matches, note how you lost points: "lifted short from the backhand net", "missed low serves", "late to the rear forehand". Filming helps (see the article on reviewing your own matches).
Step 2: rebuild the situation
Ask a partner or feeder to recreate it. For example, feed tight net shuttles to your backhand side and lift deep 15 times; or serve 20 low serves under a target string.
Step 3: add pressure
Once it is reliable, add a score or a consequence: the point is replayed until you succeed three in a row, or start the game 12–14 down.
Step 4: test it in games
Use conditioned games where that situation happens often, then check your notes again after the next match.
Key takeaways
- List how you actually lose points.
- Recreate those situations with a feeder.
- Add pressure, then test in conditioned games.
